Hypocrisy: Pelosi praised Obama for $40 tax cut – bashes Trump over four-figure bonuses

California Dem. Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s definition of what “crumbs” are has changed drastically in the past seven years.
In 2011 the House Minority Leader praised a $40 payroll tax cut by former President Obama’s administration as a victory for all Americans and praised “Obama’s leadership” for getting it done. That’s in sharp contrast to her recent comments dismissing the results of Trump’s major tax cuts as “crumbs.”
“160 million Americans will continue to receive their payroll tax cut — nearly $40 per paycheck in the pockets of the average family. I salute the work of the unified House Democratic caucus on behalf of the American people,” she said in a statement at the time.
Her Tune Has Changed.
But in 2018 it is another story for Pelosi, who now believes that $1,000, the bonus that Walmart is giving to some workers, is merely “crumbs.”
“In terms of the bonus that corporate America receives versus the crumbs they are giving to workers to put the schmooze on is so pathetic. It’s so pathetic,” she told reporters.
“I would hope that with their big advantage of bringing money home at a very low rate that they would invest in infrastructure and things, but our experience has been that they will do dividends, do stock buybacks and things like that,” Pelosi said. “I think it’s insignificant.”
Pelosi Is Extremely Rich.
How rich does someone have to be to call $1,000 “crumbs?” As rich as Rep. Pelosi who, in the 2014 Roll Call Wealth of Congress Index ranked as one of the 15 richest members of Congress, with a net worth of $29.35 million.
It might seem like crumbs to someone with that wealth but the fact is that more than two million Americans have received bonuses as a result of the tax cuts implemented by President Donald Trump and Republicans, according to Americans for Tax Reform. Some of those bonuses were as high as $3,000.
One of those companies, Waste Management, announced that it was giving $2,000 bonuses to around 34,000 workers. It made that announcement on Wednesday, a day before Pelosi’s “crumbs” comment.
Pelosi Got Destroyed.
Fox News’ Laura Ingraham wrecked Pelosi on Friday as she laced into the West Coast elitist for her “crumbs” remark.
“Maybe it’s a crumb if you live in Pacific Heights or the Sea Cliff neighborhood of San Francisco and you’re married to Paul Pelosi, maybe then it’s a crumb. But for most people it’s real money,” Ingraham said.
“They say Trump doesn’t have both oars in the water? Nancy has lost the oars and can’t even find the water she’s so out of it,” she said.
The only crumb involved in this story is the one who serves as the representative of California’s 12th district.
