How was your weekend? If you happen to be actor Vince Vaughn, your answer is probably “not so great.”

According to reports, Vaughn was arrested near Los Angeles early Sunday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence. He has since been released after posting bail.

What happened?

Last week, the Manhattan Beach Police Department announced on Facebook that it was going to be cracking down on drinking and driving. Whether Vaughn missed the post or ignored it, he soon found out that they are quite serious about their “zero tolerance” policy.

Around 12:30 a.m., the 48-year-old actor and an unidentified male passenger were stopped at a DUI checkpoint located between Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach, just south of LA International Airport.

Apparently, the two men were not the most cooperative. Sergeant Tim Zins explained that Vaughn wasn’t “fighting with officers, but more of delaying the investigation.”

This was confirmed by witnesses who say that the two men were not following orders and refusing to exit the vehicle. “There was no officer use of force or anything like that,” clarified Zins. The whole incident was caught by police body cameras.

The two men were eventually given sobriety tests, which they failed. Vaughn and his passenger were arrested and taken to the station, where, around 4 a.m., they were booked. Police released the following mugshot, in which Vaughn can be seen grinning:

The actor was charged with a DUI misdemeanor, his passenger with public intoxication, and both with obstructing police officers. After posting bail, they were released.

Vaughn’s spokesperson declined to comment “at this time.”

Not the first time

Although this does appear to be Vaughn’s first DUI charge, it is not his first arrest.

In 2001, he was arrested in Wilmington, North Carolina, after a bar brawl. Fellow actor Steve Buscemi was stabbed during the incident. Vaughn was initially charged with assault for his involvement, but this charge was later dropped.

For this most recent incident, Vaughn was expected to appear in Court for arraignment on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

Vaughn is best known for his roles in “Dodgeball” and “Wedding Crashers.” His most recent film is “Brawl in Block Cell 99.”
