Media reels after Trump retweets conspiracy theory linking Bill Clinton to Epstein death
Following the apparent suicide of multimillionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein, President Donald Trump seemed to offer his support for a conspiracy theory suggesting that Bill Clinton was behind the alleged child sex predator’s death. And as expected, the media was left reeling.
“We know who did this”
The theory was first shared on Twitter by actor and commentator Terrence K. Williams, who made his position known in a tweet published shortly after news broke of Epstein’s death.
Died of SUICIDE on 24/7 SUICIDE WATCH ? Yeah right! How does that happen#JefferyEpstein had information on Bill Clinton & now he’s dead
I see #TrumpBodyCount trending but we know who did this!

A few hours later, President Trump retweeted Williams’ message, indicating — at least ostensibly — that he has lent at least some credence to the theory, which is based on what some have alleged is a pattern of mysterious deaths involving the Clintons. But Williams offered no evidence to back up his claim.
However, Clinton has at least associated with Epstein; the former president has himself admitted to at least six encounters with the now-deceased multimillionaire, and flight logs shared by Fox News show that Clinton made numerous trips with Epstein aboard his private airplane, the “Lolita Express,” which is believed to have been used in the trafficking of minors.
Ties to Washington
Of course, Trump has also been associated with Epstein. The now-president reportedly banned Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida after Epstein allegedly sexually assaulted one of the club’s staffers.
But while there is no indication that either Clinton or Trump was tied to Epstein’s sudden death, the Justice Department has vowed to get to the bottom of it.
“Mr. Epstein’s death raises serious questions that must be answered,” Attorney General William Barr said in a statement. “In addition to the FBI’s investigation, I have consulted with the Inspector General who is opening an investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Epstein’s death.”
Barr added that he was “appalled to learn” of Epstein’s “apparent suicide.”
Meanwhile, more questions remain about Epstein’s alleged crimes, which include charges of child sex trafficking. Epstein had pleaded not guilty to those charges.
He was found unconscious in his jail cell in New York early Saturday morning. He was later taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He was 66.
