Rush Limbaugh on Mueller investigation: ‘They don’t have jack’

September 12, 2018

Not only have federal investigators been unable to find any evidence of wrongdoing within the Trump administration, but Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his cabal of Democratic Party donors and establishment sycophants masquerading as fair and impartial prosecutors can’t even decide what possible crimes they are investigating. This was precisely the conclusion that conservative pundit Rush Limbaugh reached when he forthrightly declared: “They don’t have jack!”

Time to throw in the towel

Limbaugh, who hosts the nation’s top-rated radio broadcast program, spent the better part of Tuesday morning questioning the very purpose and origins of the special counsel probe that is currently tasked with investigating the executive branch. He asked his audience to consider the facts:

But stop and think. We don’t even. … There isn’t even an answer to a simple question: What is Trump being investigated for? Don’t tell me, “He’s being investigated for colluding with Russia,” because he’s not. They’re hoping to find evidence of that, but they haven’t been able to because it didn’t happen! There is no crime Donald Trump is alleged to have committed here!

It is hard to ignore Limbaugh’s reasoning. So far, the special counsel has only succeeded in setting innocuous perjury traps against several low-level aides, and Mueller’s most villainous target, former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, harbors more ties to the Obama administration and Hillary Clinton State Department that to the current president.

In fact, U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III reprimanded Mueller prosecutors in May for politicizing the Manafort trial and using the litigation simply to go after Trump. Liberal media outlets responded to the no-nonsense magistrate by labeling Ellis a “cranky judge,” while the special counsel went a step further by filing a formal written complaint against the judge, alleging that he unfairly called out the prosecution in front of the jury.

Fishing expedition

Limbaugh continued, calling Mueller’s fishing expedition an “abomination” and a “bogus” investigation which is “predicated on nothing but a made-up allegation.” Specifically, the conservative shock jock was pointing to the Democratic Party fantasy that President Trump somehow collided with Moscow to advantage his campaign in the 2016 presidential race.

Despite the seriousness of these charges, Limbaugh noted, Mueller has had 16 months to pull the trigger and allege that Trump did something — anything — worthy of prosecution. He called this “simply unacceptable:”

It ought not be tolerated that a 16-month investigation that itself is the result of the Obama DOJ and FBI planting evidence and creating false claims about people… We don’t know what this about! What crimes is Donald Trump under investigation for committing? Can somebody tell me? What is the crime Trump’s being investigated for committing? There isn’t one, folks. There is no crime that has been mentioned as the reason for any of this investigation, even that which preceded Mueller starting.

After Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation, Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein stepped in and issued appointment orders for Mueller in May 2017. While the special counsel was limited to investigating “any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and any individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump,” Rosenstein also gave Mueller unprecedented, sweeping authority to investigate the president by empowering him to examine “any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation.”

Limbaugh thinks that the special counsel violates executive privilege and threatens the U.S. Constitution. “We have a special counsel who has been allowed to be set up as essentially an ongoing check and balance on a daily basis of the president of the United States,” he explained. “What Mueller is doing is not mentioned in the Constitution. It’s not specified. It’s not referenced in any way. Our Constitution does not provide a fourth branch of government which does nothing but follow and pass judgment every day on the president of the United States,” Limbaugh asserted.

“It is unconstitutional. It is extraconstitutional,” Limbaugh continued. “There is no crime! Now, after two years of an investigation that does not have a crime in it, isn’t it time to shut it down? It never should have begun in the first place.”

Loose lips sink ships

At this late stage of the investigation, Limbaugh insisted that if there were any evidence of collusion that Americans would know about it. The Republican polemicist argued that if there was any evidence, “we would have heard evidence ’cause nobody can stop leaking.”

Indeed, if the Trump White House is guilty of anything, it is guilty of failing to properly vet its personnel. Since Trump ascended to the Oval Office, the mainstream media have been inundated with sources who can’t wait to talk.

Drawing his arguments to a close, Limbaugh was clear: “There’s no reason for the Mueller investigation. There is no justifiable reason for Robert Mueller to have an office and a team of anti-Trump investigators with an unlimited budget to go run around and keep ruining people’s lives and threatening to ruin the lives of others in order to get somebody to pop up and say, ‘Yeah, they know Trump cheated because he colluded with Russia.’

They haven’t even been able to find anybody to do that yet,” Limbaugh surmised. Of course, it’s only a matter of time …
