FISA report will ‘ruin careers’ at DOJ and FBI, Joe DiGenova says

November 8, 2019

The long-awaited FISA report on the 2016 election is going to destroy careers and send President Donald Trump’s enemies to jail, former prosecutor Joe DiGenova said Wednesday.

The Trump ally made the bombshell claim on Fox News’ “Lou Dobbs Tonight,” citing insider sources familiar with the Inspector General’s investigation of “the greatest political scandal in history. DiGenova has repeatedly hyped the IG report, which will examine alleged surveillance abuses by the Obama administration in the 2016 election.

Joe DiGenova predicts career ruin, indictments from FISA report

For months, supporters of the president have predicted that the report will lead to criminal indictments for top foes of President Donald Trump, like former FBI director James Comey and former CIA director John Brennan, who played significant roles in the Russia hoax. Trump and his Republican allies have long accused the Obama administration of an attempted “coup” that leveraged the power of the intelligence apparatus against the Trump campaign.

Trump allies, including Sean Hannity and DiGenova, have repeatedly predicted explosive outcomes from the report, citing alleged sources close to the investigation. The report is finished, but its release has been delayed over classification issues, prompting groans from Republicans and concerns of a “Deep State” effort to redact any bombshells.

The DOJ’s Inspector General Michael Horowitz most recently said that it will be released “soon” with as few omissions as possible.

Asked by Dobbs for his take on the report, DiGenova called it “explosive” and said that it will “ruin careers” at the highest levels of the DOJ:

I would say explosive and I would say for people at the highest levels of the FBI and at the highest levels at the Justice Department, more important the Justice Department, it’s going to be devastating. It’s going to ruin careers.

DiGenova: FISA report will be explosive

Joe DiGenova and Victoria Toensing discuss the highly anticipated FISA report. FOX Business Network (FBN) is a financial news channel delivering real-time information across all platforms that impact both Main Street and Wall Street.

Republicans accuse the Obama administration of relying on the phony Russia dossier compiled by British ex-spy Christopher Steele, and paid for in part by the Democrats and the Clinton campaign, to obtain FISA warrants to spy on a Trump campaign member, Carter Page. President Trump has suggested that the “coup” went all the way up to President Barack Obama.

Report being “held up” by Durham grand jury

DiGenova had some more bad news for Trump foes: the IG report is being held up “partially” because of the separate probe being led by Attorney General Bill Barr into Russiagate, which recently evolved into a criminal investigation. The former prosecutor said that members of the intelligence community will be indicted in Durham’s investigation:

Because what’s clear now we know is that the senior levels of the Obama Justice Department were complicit in knowingly submitting materially false applications to the FISA court for an illegitimate counterintelligence purpose, not for a legitimate purpose but to spy on Americans for political purposes. It really will end up being the beginning of the greatest political scandal in history. And it’s being held up partially because of John Durham’s new grand jury, which, by the way, exists for one reason and one reason only because people are going to be indicted.

The news that Durham is now leading a criminal probe met with concerted pushback from the mainstream media, Democrats, and senior Obama administration officials like Comey and Brennan, who dismissed the probe as a politically compromised fishing expedition. Barr launched the review as a non-criminal investigation in May, but the probe has apparently picked up momentum and entered a new and more serious stage.

DiGenova’s wife and legal partner Victoria Toensing said that the IG report will be “worse than you can imagine,” citing “darn good sources.”

Only time will tell if this is just bluster, or if there is such thing as accountability for the Deep State.
