Actor attempts to steal Trump supporter’s sign outside Trump Tower

June 12, 2019

American conservatives must contend with being de-platformed on social media, de-banked by socially conscious financial institutions, and shouted down on college campuses. But while political expression is difficult for Republicans, it can be downright dangerous for Trump supporters.

Case in point: On Monday, actor Indya Moore snatched a “Trump 2020” sign straight from a demonstrator’s unsuspecting hands. When Moore, who is reportedly transgender, tried to make off with the custom-made banner, the man who owned the sign fought back — and now, Moore is playing the victim.

Snatch and grab

Did the sign feature some provocative, anti-LGBT slogan to infuriate Moore, who stars in the FX series Pose? Not exactly.

“Re-Elect Donald J. Trump, Keep America Great, 2020,” the sign read.

Video shows Moore steal the sign before trampling on it and trying to walk away with it. “This is personal property, sweetheart!” someone can be heard screaming.

“Call the police,” Moore invited. That’s when the owner of the sign, identified by TMZ as Dion Cini, intervened. He said he had the sign professionally manufactured for $250, and he only decided to get involved when the actor tried to walk away with his property.

“I let him continue to stomp on it,” Cini said. “You can’t really hurt it, I’ve had other people kick it before.”

Cini’s use of the pronoun “he” is liable to infuriate Moore, who is reportedly non-binary and prefers to be called “they.”

Reclaiming my sign

Cini, who was demonstrating in support of the president outside Trump Tower in New York City, soon struggled to get the flimsy sign back from Moore, pushing the actor in the process. At one point, a man came to Moore’s aid, prompting the Trump supporter to redouble his efforts to retain his property.

“Get the f*** out of here!” Cini yelled at the pair. “Get your hands off my stuff!”

Moore took the opportunity to knock Cini’s MAGA visor off of his head before another Trump supporter entered the fray and tried to intervene. The tug-of-war finally ended when a police officer arrived on the scene. Moore can then be heard pleading her case to the officer, suggesting that she was violently accosted by the sign owner.

“You could’ve died for Trump! He could’ve stabbed you!” New York police can be heard informing the actor when the melee is over.

Later, the transgender television star took to Twitter to lament the “increase of oppression and violence under this current administration.” The tweet has since been deleted.

Over their heads

The irony of Moore’s statement was apparently lost on the left-wing and pro-LGBT groups who penned articles suggesting that Moore was “assaulted by a Trump-nut.” A report from the radical leftist website The Root alleges Cini went “peak white man after seeing his sign touched.”

As a peaceful demonstrator, Cini was completely within his rights to retrieve his property. Unfortunately, liberals can’t see past their deranged, seething hatred for the president to the heart of the matter, justifying violent behavior in the name of partisan dissent.
